The Backstory:

As a longtime vinyl collector and part-time Vinyl DJ, I often spend my time trying to find out if the track I love on Spotify was ever pressed on vinyl. Not only that, but I have to remember what it was and then go through the tedious process of copying and pasting or trying to rewrite it without errors, only to find it was never released on vinyl.

I thought, wouldn't it be fantastic if I had a way to click through to something that tells me instantly, and so the idea of Rekkid Hunter was born.

I also know that any track older than 1990 has a 99% chance of being on vinyl, but for new music, it's not so straightforward, and don't even get me started on remixes. Discogs was an obvious integration since it's the largest online database and marketplace for both new and second-hand records, worldwide. It's a given that if it doesn't exist on Discogs, it probably was never pressed on vinyl.

Another factor was the cost of vinyl, which at $30 on average now per new record, I need to LOVE that record to buy it, so I use my Spotify library to listen to a track or album until I'm sure.
